Estate agents end the first leg of their Lands End to John O’Groats challenge in the West Dorset resort
A team of fundraising rural property specialists stopped off at Lyme Regis this week on their journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
The group, from Savills, is collecting money for Countryside Learning, a charity which aims to educate, inspire and inform children to enjoy and appreciate the countryside.
Through a mixture of cycling and walking the team made its way up through the West Country, arriving at Lyme’s famous Cobb harbour on Tuesday (June 4), to hand over to the next team for the Southern leg of the trip.
Paul Cressy, of Savills south west rural team, who also took part, said: “We have had some great fun over the last week or so but it has also been very challenging. We hadn’t anticipated just how harsh some of the hill climbs would be, or that we would need our sun cream rather than our waterproofs.

“But it was all made worthwhile by the knowledge that we were adding to our fundraising total and we were also warmly welcomed along the way by friends, clients and local people interested in our journey. We were very proud to do this for Countryside Learning.”
Gary Richardson, Chief Executive of Countryside Learning said: “Voluntary income is vital to secure the work of Countryside Learning so this kind of fundraising is fundamental to our work.

“Countryside Learning is more than just an organisation that offers children a day out. We offer all our stakeholders the chance to communicate with each other. We offer socially excluded rural communities and small businesses the chance to find new sources of income and continue their vital role in managing our countryside. We offer urban children the opportunity to experience what else life has to offer them and their families.
“We extend our thanks to all the staff at Savills who have organised this challenge and we wish them all the very best on their onward journey.”
