Making it Local has launched its small grants funds for small business creation and growth, strengthening local communities and connecting people and the landscape.

The first deadline for applications is January 18, 2010.

Programme manager Jenny Archard said: "Experience shows that small amounts of money can make big differences to local businesses and communities. Making it local wants to help make the most of what we have and develop exciting new ideas."

Since the programme was launched earlier this year, it has approved six projects within the main grants fund.
