Honiton’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery has been shortlisted for a top regional award for its project helping people with mental health and anxiety issues.

Art & Mind at THG supports people to gain confidence and escape everyday worries by getting involved in art activities inspired by the gallery’s changing programme of innovative art exhibitions.

The collaborative project run by East Devon District Council’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) and Mind in East Devon is one of four South West arts organisations shortlisted in the prestigious Arts and Health South West Awards 2013.

The awards aim to celebrate and showcase the very best of inspirational arts and health work in the region.

Councillor John O’Leary East Devon District Council’s member champion for culture said: “While we’re delighted to see THG nominated for this prestigious award, the real reward is the community benefit provided by this scheme.

“The staff of THG and Mind are making a real and positive difference to local lives with this project, something which is to be truly commended.

“I wish them the very best of luck in the Arts and Heath South West Awards.”

The winners will be announced at the AHSW Awards Ceremony at Bristol City Hall on Tuesday, June 25.
