Children and young people in East Devon are being given the opportunity to create their own sculptures.

Children and young people in East Devon are being given an opportunity to show their creative sides and design a sculpture to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The chairman of East Devon District Council, Peter Halse, is inviting young people to draw their own ideas for a sculpture which will be displayed in their local park.

The overall winner of the art competition will receive expert help from a local artist to turn their drawing into a real-life sculpture, which will be unveiled as part of a community festival.

The Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton will be holding a free workshop on Wednesday, April 4, between 11am and 4pm, to provide inspiration for East Devon’s young artists.

All the designs will be on display at the gallery from May 19 until June 30.

Entry forms are avaliable from the Thelma Hulbert Gallery or alternatively send entries to Jamie Buckley, Community Engagement, East Devon District Council Offices, Station Road, Sidmouth, EX10 8HL with your name, age, address and phone number.

All entries must arrive at the district council offices by Friday, May 4.
