THE AXE Estuary Ringing Group will again be giving people the chance to see birds up close. The bird ringing event, organised by East Devon District Council's Countryside Service, will take place at Seaton Marshes Local Nature Reserve, on Saturday, April 25, from 8am.Members of the group have been catching birds at the marshes over many years, gathering essential information on the different species, numbers and their migration habits. Each bird caught is fitted with a leg ring, giving it a unique identity number, and helps to provide understanding about bird migration.Bacon butties and a hot drink will be available for a small charge. If the weather is very wet, the event will be cancelled for the birds' protection. For more information, call the Countryside Service on (01395) 517557.
