OVER 500 people descended on the Wet and Wild weekend at Seaton Marshes.
The three-day wetland festival is organised by East Devon District Council's countryside service every year to show off the outstanding wildlife of Seaton and the Axe Estuary.
Events on offer included pond dipping, bird ringing, bat walks, moth breakfasts and muddy history for kids. The willow weaving and survival skills workshops were extremely popular with whole families working together to start fires without matches and make nettles into string.
Keen birdwatchers were able to visit to the Black Hole Marsh on two private walks. This innovative new saline lagoon is already attracting plenty of waders and wildfowl but is not open to the public until all the access paths and hides are in place.
The Seaton Visitor Centre Trust Arts group ran craft events throughout Saturday which were extremely popular, with children creating all kinds of furry and feathered masks.
The whole event was supported by the efforts of the Axe Estuary Nature Reserves Friends group, with around 25 people giving up their time for free to help staff lay on the wide range of activities.
