HONITON Golf Club has submitted amended plans for additional parking at Middlehills, but town councillors couldn't see what the amendments were when they viewed new plans last week. They decided to stick to their original recommendations.Members of Honiton Town Council's planning committee think Offwell Parish Council should be consulted and that checks should be made to ensure the proposal does not conflict with rules governing an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Some councillors are concerned ambitious plans by the golf club to expand, in a bid to attract more members, could set a precedent.Deputy mayor, Councillor Vivienne Ash said: "I'm quite worried about this, because of the encroachment into an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It may set a precedent, even though I know there may be a need."Councillor Roy Coombs shared her concern. "I think this is an unfortunate application," he said. "I realise car parking has to go somewhere, but it is moving development into unspoilt countryside in Offwell."I'm not happy about this one at all.
