TWO hundred people have already signed up for the Community Messaging System in Axminster. The police said expanding the system would give them the unprecedented ability to communicate important information to the public within a very short time frame.Police and special constables have been helping to develop the system by supermarket and door-to-door visits. Those interested give their details and a contact phone number to be entered on to an independent database - and they will be contacted when a crime or incident occurs, which is of interest to them.Neighbourhood beat manager PC Darren Herridge said: "We are happy with the results considering we only got going at the start of February."Anyone interested in signing up to the system should visit the station and speak to Anne-Marie the station enquiry officer and a form can be filled in there and then.
