Gorse fire in Lyme

Fire crews mobilised from across Devon and Dorset.

FIREFIGHTERS were mobilised to respond to reports of a gorse fire in Lyme Regis.

Appliances from Lyme Regis and Axminster attended the incident in Lime Kiln Lane, which occurred yesterday at 5.45pm.

On arrival fire crews found an area of scrub lands was well alight and as a result further appliances from Dorset, Colyton and Exmouth were deployed to assist as well as a hose layer from Honiton.

Crews extinguished the fire, which was approximately 200 metres square, using hose reels, beaters and a suppression pump.
