Honiton Memory Cafe founders, Heather Penwarden and Min Rennolds, join Her Majesty the Queen, by special invitation, at a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
It was a royal occasion for the founders of Honiton Memory Cafe when they enjoyed a grand day out at Buckingham Palace.
Heather Penwarden, the cafe project’s chairman, and Min Rennolds, volunteer co-ordinator, joined Her Majesty the Queen, by special invitation, at a garden party.
They were able to mingle with diplomats and even caught a glimpse of the Queen in her peach dress and other members of the royal family.
Heather and Min also enjoyed listening to the military bands as they wandered round the gardens and to combat the hot weather they sat by the lake drinking ice-cold lemon barley water and eating ice cream.
They said: “Our every need was catered for on this most perfect and memorable of days.
“What a privilege it was to attend a Buckingham Palace garden party, especially in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year.”
Min added: “I wish we could have taken our members. We felt proud to represent Honiton Memory Cafe.”
Members of the memory cafe will not be missing out as they will be shown a DVD of the event.
