A group of youths are believed to have stolen a mobility scooter from a vulnerable elderly person in Honiton.

Officers were called last Friday (August 24) by a member of the public who said the scooter had been spotted without an owner in Queen Street.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Enquires and searches were carried out by local officers who located the scooter nearby in a car park.

“CCTV enquiries are believed to show a group of people using the scooter.

“Officers later received a call from a member of the public who was reporting a missing mobility scooter.

“The scooter has since been recovered and will be reunited with its owner.”

Police say they are continuing their enquiries into the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the scooter being ridden in the area over the weekend or has any information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CR/078162/18.
