Farmers’ cheque completes primary school’s latest fundraising initiative

Hawkchurch Primary School has completed the final chapter in its latest fundraising appeal for new reading books.

The target was reached thanks to a generous donation from local farmer Gilbert Churchill and his wife, Ruth, who went along to present a cheque for £200 last week.

It brought the amount raised by a combination of parents’ fundraising and donations since January to more than £800.

Mr Churchill said: “I am very pleased to help our local primary school and I know that these books will encourage the children to read now and well into the future.”
