RESIDENTS are invited to have their say about the Seaton Design Statement, which will guide East Devon District Council Planning Department on future planning proposals.
RESIDENTS are invited to have their say about the Seaton Design Statement, which will guide East Devon District Council Planning Department on future planning proposals.A voluntary working party has been meeting for over two years and has already submitted the first part of the statement to EDDC, covering the town's regeneration area.An exhibition of the document is being held at Seaton Town Hall from October 27 to November 14. Copies are also available at the library, hospital, Townsend House and Harepath Road Doctors' surgeries, Seaton Primary School, Strictly Business, Pebbles and Finishing Touches. Member of the working party Heather Sanham said: "This is an important document. Once adopted by EDDC it will help the council to fulfil its planning responsibilities, which include protection of 'the natural and built environment' and rejection of poor designs."The statement seeks to explain highlights of the town and how future changes might enhance them. The document attempts to set out how Seaton's natural features, spaces, buildings and materials fit together.The Design Statement is close to finalisation and is now ready for its last public consultation prior to being submitted to EDDC for adoption.
