TV presenter Matthew Wright joins band for tribute to Jason Stuart in Honiton.

A MEMORIAL arbour has been opened at a Honiton pub in memory of the late Hawkwind musician Jason Stuart.

Space rockers Hawkwind were at The Volunteer yesterday (Sunday) afternoon to officially open the smoking shelter.

Band members were accompanied by television presenter Matthew Wright.

The arbour was especially made to commemorate Jason’s life and has been dubbed Jay’s Place.

Dave Brock, of Hawkwind, said a few words about Jason and the memorial before it was declared open.

Referring to The Volunteer, in High Street, Mr Brock said: “It is a place that Jason loved and spent a lot of his time.”

Jason died suddenly on September 8 in 2008. He was 39.

Hawkwind are today (Monday) launching their new album and visited Honiton after a gig in Cornwall.
