ST JOHN Ambulance, the voluntary first aid organisation,is celebrating a landmark anniversary with an Open Day.

It has been in Honiton for 75 years with Ottery St Mary being involved with Honiton only in the last 15 years. They have been based at Haydons Park, Honiton, for the last 30 years where thehad their great new HQ purpose built By JR Layzell and Sons.

The volunteers cover a wide range of duties from village fetes to motor sport events like F1 and World Superbikes, Honiton’s main duty is Banger/Stock car racing at Smeatharpe. They have a modern ambulance which is six years old and was funded by duties and the public from Honiton and Ottery St Mary (no money came from the government).

On the open day on July 11, they will have various organisations present, who hire the hall, giving demonstrations from 11am till 3pm and also demonstrations by cadets and adults to celebrate their 75th birthday. The general public are very welcome to attend and find out what this great volunary organisation can do.
