A village school near Honiton has received plaudits from education watchdog Ofsted, as well as the highest possible rating from Anglican inspectors, following a joint inspection of the school.

A village school near Honiton has received plaudits from education watchdog Ofsted, as well as the highest possible rating from Anglican inspectors, following a joint inspection of the school.

Payhembury Church of England Primary School was judged "a good school that has been systematically improved", by Ofsted, and "outstanding" in the report issued by the National Society of Anglican Schools.

In the report, issued by Ofsted, inspector Mike Burghart said: "The outstanding vision and ambition of the headteacher are infectious and have brought staff and governors on board in moves which have driven up pupils' attainment.
