Villagers at Membury finally got to plant their Jubilee Tree last week – a couple of years later than planned.
Residents agreed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s reign, in 2012, by growing a commemorative oak.
But tree warden Roger Clemens said the plan got put on hold because they just couldn’t find anywhere to put it.
“But, thankfully, after much sterling work and effort we have been able to plant the English Oak - Quercus Robur - in Membury’s beautiful old churchyard,” he said.

As ever, Membury school children were at the forefront of the special occasion and were given the job of planting the tree.

They also created posters to advertise the event and produced bunting and other colourful decorations.
Residents joined the pupils for the planting followed by refreshments in the village hall after the planting.
