MORE than 2,000 people have now joined a Facebook campaign to save in-patient post-natal care at Honiton Community Hospital.
And at least 1,000 people are thought to have signed a petition, calling on NHS Devon to halt plans to downgrade the hospital's maternity ward to a birthing unit from April 1.
"We collected 608 signatures in Honiton last Saturday," said campaign founder Gavin Watts, 28, whose wife, Jade, 25, is 18 weeks pregnant.
"We had a really, really good day.
"Parents and their children travelled into Honiton on that day specifically to sign the petition.
"More signa-tures were collected later."

Mr Watts added: "It is a very, very emotive subject."
More petition sheets are circulating in Honiton and will be handed to NHS Devon ahead of a planned change of management involving the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
People are still joining the Facebook group by up to 30 a day, says Mr Watts.
