Our campaign to bring an Admiral Nurse to Honiton is beginning to touch the hearts of individuals and organisations throughout our community.

Frank and Elizabeth Wybrow recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary.

Elizabeth said: “We were approached by several friends asking what gifts we would like to mark 60 years of married life.

“We thought long and hard and together decided that at our age we are lucky

enough to have most things and we would rather support a charity local to the community we live in.”

Frank added: “We have been following the progress of the Honiton Admiral Nurse campaign in the Herald and felt that supporting families coping with dementia was a really valuable cause.

“So, we asked for donations to Honiton Admiral Nurse instead of gifts and were thrilled at the generosity of our friends who gave a total of £175, which we were pleased to pass on through Heather and Graham.”

We were extremely touched and grateful to Frank and Elizabeth for thinking to support us in this way.

Every donation we receive is valuable to us and takes us one step closer to our aim of having an Admiral Nurse for Honiton.

Admiral Nurses are continually trained, developed and supported by Dementia UK. Families that have their support have someone truly expert and caring by their side – helping them to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.

Barbara Young, from Lloyds Bank Honiton, was also touched by our campaign and recently collected £105 from customers.

The Lloyds Bank Foundation match-funded the amount so we were delighted to receive a total donation of £210 into our Honiton Admiral Nurse funds.

If you would like learn more about what it is like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action Honiton Dementia Action Alliance are holding a Dementia Friends Awareness session at The Beehive Community Centre on Wednesday, November 22, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
