Big bash held for Duncan Chilcott, who says he is ‘looking forward’ to another 25 years in the business.

Honiton auctioneer Duncan Chilcott celebrated his 25th year in his role last week.

More than 100 guests joined him at the Chilcott’s Silver Street saleroom in Honiton earlier this month.

Customers, staff, buyers and local business people gathered to congratulate Duncan, who began his career in the town as managing director of Bonhams Westcountry in 1991.

He then went on to establish Chilcotts Auctioneers with his wife, Elizabeth, in 2004.

Duncan thanked everyone who has supported him over the years, and said he looked forward to the next 25.

Guests also had the chance to preview items that were due to be auctioned in the company’s weekend sale of ‘Fine Art, Antiques and Collectors Items’. Lots on view included a range of jewellery, antique silver, a Steinway and Sons concert grand piano, collections of Moorcroft and Meissen, and longcase clock made by Elizabeth Murch of Honiton.

Guests also enjoyed canapés, which were specially made by the local Hospiscare team, which raised funds in excess of £650 from the event.
