A Honiton shop has been ‘dementia friendly’ after undertaking training from Honiton Dementia Action Alliance (HDAA).
Staff from Boots Opticians are part of a growing group of organisations, businesses and individuals in the town who are committed to helping Honiton be a ‘dementia friendly’ community.
HDAA chairman Heather Penwarden said: “We welcome enquiries from any group in the town who wish to take up the offer of a free, one-hour dementia friends awareness session.”
The next free public awareness session will be on Tuesday, August 23, from 5.30pm, in Honiton Library. All are welcome to the session, which lasts just over an hour.
Honiton DAA also supports the town’s memory café, an ambling group and a dementia-friendly nostalgic cinema.
