A HONITON man turned to drugs and stole a toy in the run up to Christmas following the break-up of his marriage, a court heard.
Father-of-two Sean James Currie, 44, pleaded guilty to stealing the 99.99 DevastatorTransformer from Honiton Toy Shop on December 17 of last year.
In mitigation, Nicholas Bradley said Currie's 14-year marriage had ended and had caused him to start taking heroin again. He also took valium for depression. He said Currie may have taken the toy for his son, but could not rationalise his actions.
Central Devon Magistrates' Court gave Currie a conditional discharge for 12 months. He was not ordered to pay costs because of his means.
