A maintenance man at a Honiton care home has gifted a bespoke cart to the residents living there.

Tony Hoad, who works at Gittisham Hill House care home, put his handy skills to good use to create the cart.

Throughout the summer months, residents have enjoyed a fortnightly visit from a local ice cream van.

With the arrival of autumn the team at Gittisham Hill House opted to introduce a vintage sweet trolley, but they did not have anything suitable to use.

Tony said he would organise the trolley and amazed everyone when he delivered a white and pink striped cart he made by hand from recycled timber from his shed. Marita Westaway, home manager, said: “On behalf of everyone at Gittisham Hill House, I would like to thank Tony for his thoughtful contribution to our home. The cart is an amazing asset which will be enjoyed by everyone as both a decorative and practical feature for many years to come.”
