MARSHALS and police had to act quickly when an animal expert urgently needed access to Dowell Street during last Saturday's Honiton and District Carnival procession.
The woman was on a call out to rescue a snake, believed to be a cobra, from someone's back garden.
Marshals escorted the woman's van up High Street and police moved spectators away from a road block at Dowell Street.
