“Creeping acceptance of Satanism” will not be tolerated.

CHURCHGOERS in Honiton are planning to cold-shoulder The Devil this Hallowe’en.

Officials at St Paul’s have banned witches and ghosts from their fancy dress party and warned people not to believe that “evil is fun”.

In a bid to halt the “creeping acceptance of Satanism” they are planning an alternative family celebration with an absolute ban on skeletons and ghouls. Church youth worker Rose Millard said they were fed up with the traditional emphasis on the darker side.

“We are not going to take it any more,” she said. “We are looking forward to a night of light”.

The party, in the Mackarness Hall on Sunday, October 31, will be open to families of all ages.

There will be games for everybody, dancing and food.

Tickets are available from the Parish office at 4 for adults and 2 for those aged three to 18.
