A long-running clothes shop in Honiton has closed down.

Beauchamp Place, owned by Mandy Newman, shut last week - bringing an end to its 28-year stay on the high street.

It has been no surprise to many, as the store had displayed several ‘retirement sale’ signs in its windows for months.

It is believed an existing business in Honiton will fill the vacant premises shortly.

Tony McCollum, chair of Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce, said: “We wish Mandy well and thank her for continued support in remaining a member of the committee for the next twelve months.

“Without her commitment as lead member of the lights sub-committee, Honiton residents would be without the Christmas lights they have enjoyed over the last three years.

“Mandy has been an influential businesswoman in the town and has further supported the chairman as deputy for the last two years.”
