PCSO Sue Rowe says members of the public have reported youngsters making excessive noise with the machines late at night.
"We thank the public for these calls, but we still need people to call us with information," she said, pointing out residents are the eyes and ears of the police.
"These can be dangerous machines, if used in the wrong hands," PCSO Rowe stressed.
Mini motorbikes, both electric and petrol driven, are classed as motor vehicles in the same way that mopeds and motorbikes are.
If they are used on the road, they must comply with all the regulations that a normal approved motor vehicle would require.
The rider must have a driving licence, be insured, have tax and be wearing a crash helmet.
The bike must have the necessary lights and registration plates.
As most of the vehicles do not comply with legislation, police are keen to point out they can only be driven on private land with the permission of the landowner.
PCSO Rowe said: "They can't be ridden on a road, footpath, pavement, land owned by the local authority such as parks and car parks."
