THE proposed Honiton Senior Council, which aims to give the over 50s a voice on issues that affect them, will be the subject of an open meeting today (Wednesday, May 21).The meeting, which is open to all, will take place at the Boston Tea Party from 10.30am to noon.Without support, Honiton will be the only area identified for a senior council in Devon not to have one.Representatives of local organisations, including TRIP Community Transport Association, Age Concern and Honiton Old Age Pensioners' Association, have received invitations.Supporters of the council are keen to assure existing groups in the town that the aim is to work with them, not separately.Event organisers hope to launch the council during the meeting, electing officer and at least five executive members.
