Whole family involved in couple's emotional wedding vow renewal ceremony in aid of FORCE cancer charity
A Honiton couple have renewed their wedding vows after 20 years of marriage, in a moving ceremony involving the whole family.
Lisa Beigan and her husband Pete celebrated at their home with their four daughters, Ellie, 17, Finn, 15, Olivia, 12 and Maya-Rose, two and a half, all of whom made speeches about how much they love and admire their parents.
It was also an emotional occasion for Lisa’s mother Mary-Rose Parsons, who has battled breast cancer for 23 years. The support she has received from FORCE inspired Lisa and Pete to ask for donations to the cancer charity, instead of wedding presents, and they raised more than £700.
Lisa said: “It was really important to Pete and I that the girls were involved in our vow renewal, we wanted to celebrate our family unit. So will all wrote vows to each other and all exchanged rings. The service was led by a close family friend, Harry Pridmore, I’ve known Harry for many years, he has always been a great support to our family.”
In her ‘best man’s speech”, Finn said: “The love my mum and dad share is truly inspirational and their passion they share is amazing…. I hope that one day I can be just like my mum and dad celebrating 20 years of a beautiful marriage.”
Lisa’s mother Mary-Rose said: “To be at my daughter Lisa and Pete’s vow renewal ceremony after 20 years of their marriage was one of the most poignant, memorable and proudest days of my life.”
She described the treatment she received for her breast cancer at the RD&E hospital as “excellent” and added: “The FORCE team have helped me and my family in ways I never thought possible. The counselling I received helped me deal with my diagnosis and prognosis, giving me the strength to carry on with hope for a future, a future I wasn’t sure I had.”
Lisa and Pete met when they worked together at the Sidmouth Arms in Upottery, and originally got married in Upottery Village Church. Both have changed jobs a few times since then, and they now plan to open a restaurant together.
