THE highest number of Grand Prior Awards presented at the same event were handed out in Honiton last week.

THE highest number of Grand Prior Awards presented at the same event were handed out in Honiton last week.

The awards, which are equivalent to a gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, were presented to St John Ambulance Cadets by the organisation's principal youth officer for Devon, Antoinette Williams. The award is the highest a St John cadet can attain.

Recipients were Jake Brunn, Danielle Crockwell, Harry Neve, Emma Brunn and Natalie Sampson.

Other awards were presented to Danielle Crockwell (best senior cadet), Sam Prangley (best junior cadet), Corey Lapping (best new cadet), Jake Brunn (highest duties), Harry Neve (highest inspection), Hazel Canniford (highest first aid), Sam Prangley and Jake Brunn (joint award for highest attendance) and Danielle Crockwell and Jake Brunn (best overall cadets).

Other awards were presented to cadets and Badgers.

The Badgers' inspection cup went to Kimberley Jones, while India Webster won a prize for 100 per cent attendance.

Graham Spry made the most improved effort and the best overall Badger was Kimberley Jones.

More five to nine-year-olds are being sought to join the Badgers.

They meet on Tuesday evenings, between 5.30pm and 7pm.

St John is also looking to recruit more cadets, aged between nine-and-a-half and 18, in Honiton. They meet on Thursdays from 6.45pm to 8.30pm.
