Honiton: Future of Oxfam shop under review

THE recession has forced Oxfam to review the future of some of its charity shops, including the one in Honiton.

THE recession has forced Oxfam to review the future of some of its charity shops, including the one in Honiton.However, a spokesman for the charity told the Herald: "There are no plans at the moment to close the store."He said the shop had done well in the past and that the emphasis now, as with all Oxfam shops, was to increase donations following a general decline.Staff at the Honiton shop have been consulted over the review.A volunteer at the shop said it was a worrying time for everyone involved with the outlet, particularly when Honiton is vying to become a Fairtrade town.Oxfam is a major outlet for Fairtrade goods in Honiton, but is struggling to increase donations.
