HONITON Community College is celebrating after its GCSE results improved by five per cent this year, with some tremendous individual successes.
The college has issued a statement, saying staff would like to thank the students for their hard work and the parents/carers for their support.
Staff have been praised for their diligence.
The statement said: "Once again, girls have out-performed boys; this clearly lays down the challenge for next years Year 11 boys to at least match or beat the girls performance.
"Particular congratulations in Year 11 for outstanding performance go to Alison Adams, Sam Bath, Kyle Bonetta-Martin, Fern Chugg, Jennifer Hole, Aaron King, Kathryn Maddern and Hugh Walters
"The college is especially pleased with the results from our Early Entry Policies. Last week one of our Year 10 boys achieved an A grade at AS level. Some 53 per cent of students have achieved an English GCSE at Grade C or above a year early in Year 10. Other subject areas have been operating a similar policy of entering students early and have also achieved success.
