Hot Pennies dates back to the 13th century, when Honiton was granted a Royal Charter.
Honiton is gearing up to hold its famous Hot Pennies ceremony next week.
The age-old tradition, which sees lukewarm pennies thrown from various windows up and down High Street, will be begin at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 25.
Town Crier Dave Retter, accompanied by the mayor and local dignitaries, will hoist up a garlanded pole with a gloved hand at the top to mark the beginning of the event.
Last year’s Hot Pennies event drew in a record number of people.
