NEIL Brown, 45, of Dunkeswell, has swum an incredible 2,000 miles at Honiton Swimming Pool since 1993.
He regularly swims 80 lengths at the pool and hopes to have swum 2,500 miles by 2013.
His achievement, so far, is the equivalent of 91 English Channel crossings, having already swum 128,000 lengths.
Neil, a cleansing operative with East Devon District Council, has raised money for charity along the way, over 1,300 to date, and wants to increase this amount to 2,000 in the future. His chosen charities have been The Anthony Nolan Trust, the Special Care Baby Unit and Kidney Unit in Exeter, British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support, the latter having particular significance as Neil lost his mother to cancer in 2008.
"I enjoy swimming - it's my main hobby and I believe it's good for you," he said.
