Honiton’s mayor officially opened Hospiscare’s new warehouse store this week.

The local charity, which last year opened the £1.2million King’s House Day Hospice in the town, opened a Dowell Street warehouse shop to help fund the day hospice, where support is provided for people with a terminal illness.

Helen Hutter, Hospiscare’s head of retail, said: “Come and see us and explore our Aladdin’s Cave, with pretty much everything for sale.

“We look forward to meeting you, and hope you will support us by volunteering, donating and buying goods.”

The new store, which is situated on the lower ground floor below Whittons Auctioneers, will be a variation of the charity’s successful warehouse store on Marsh Barton, Exeter, with high and low-end goods for sale.

“It has been a massive team effort from staff and volunteers to get this new venture ready to open,” Helen added.

“We are all very excited. It is going to be such a great boost to support our services for local families.

“We are thrilled and so grateful for the amazing level of support the community and businesses have given to us already for King’s House and this new store will help ensure the centre is there to give care to families in the future.”

Hospiscare’s shop in the High Street will still be the place for quality clothing and accessories, while the warehouse will take people’s larger pieces of furniture. Collections and deliveries can be arranged.

The charity has recruited three new members of staff, including sales adviser Jadie, and already has some of the volunteers needed, but it is looking for more helpers.

Volunteers can aid the charity by operating the till, sorting donations, electric PAT testing, arranging displays, cleaning furniture, stocking the shelves, and much more.
