A cheque for £1,200 has been presented to Honiton’s Cancer Research shop following a recent successful mole check day held for the community.

The charity health day was organised by Honiton and District Lions Club and doctors from Honiton Surgery. The Lions club matched the £5 it cost to undergo an examination, and as well as proving potentially lifesaving for some people who were checked, the event raised valuable funds for the national cancer charity.

Briony Gotch, manager of Honiton’s Cancer Research UK shop, said: “It was a very different way to raise funds and one that I and the shop team really enjoyed getting involved with. The support and interest from the community was amazing, and so is this donation of £1,200”
