The recession has failed to halt people's generosity in Honiton.
Despite the economic downturn, the British Heart Foundation has reported a slight increase in donations during an annual collection in the town.
The collection took place on Saturday, August 8, and raised 403.
Elaine Westbrook, of the British Heart Foundation, told the Herald: "We would like to thank the people of Honiton for their generous support.
"Our sincere thanks go to those who collected and those who donated."
The money raised will help pay for research into heart disease and to provide equipment and specialist community nurses.
