Honiton residents in “despair” over sale of Marble Arch

“It belonged to me and you,” residents’ association’s AGM told.

Why weren’t the people of Honiton consulted over the sale of a national landmark?

It was a question posed when the topic of Marble Arch was raised at the annual meeting of the Northcote Lane Area Residents’ Association.

Member Paul Fabian asked: “Who gave the state permission to sell it to a bunch of foreigners?

“Hello... That belonged to me and you.

“I despair.”

Association chairman Ken Sherman said the matter highlighted the fact that “we’ve got to be a bit more selective about who we vote into places of power”.

The meeting was held at Dunning Court last Thursday.
