Taste of Bengal, opposite the police station, has just been presented with the International Cuisine Award, which recognises premier providers of international quality cuisine and service.
Owner Mafizu Rahman recently took the restaurant's chefs to a food festival in London.
He believes Taste of Bengal was then subsequently visited by judges, who decided to make the award.
To celebrate the latest success, he is offering a free Indian beer to all customers who spend over 20 between December 1 and 24.
In addition, friends and parents of his son, Foyez, 16, are invited to dine at a discount.
