This week sees the introduction of a different bus with a bright new livery for the Honiton Ring and Ride. "This is part of our efforts to reduce running costs to compensate for the effects of the introduction of the free bus pass on passenger numbers," said Neil Hurlock. "It is a sore point with community transport services nationwide that people are unable to use their bus pass on ring and rides, so those most in need, through being either too far from a bus route or too frail to use a bus, are having to pay for transport."The vehicle, a specially adapted Mercedes Sprinter with full disabled access, will be used to provide ring and ride services in town and around the area. It will also be available for eligible local groups to use for outings during the evenings and at weekends when the bus is not being used for passenger club trips. For more information on using the vehicle and what trips are available, call the TRIP office on (01404) 46529.
