VETERAN fund-raiser Jack Willis has had his beard trimmed for charity for the last time.

Jack, 73, of Church Hill, Honiton, has raised thousands of pounds for a variety of charities since moving to the town 12 years ago.

Cancer research groups, Hospiscare and a host of other worthy causes have benefited from his pluck.

The last beneficiary is Diabetes UK. They are to receive over £250 from a beard trim staged in Honiton on Saturday, January 15.

“I don’t suffer from diabetes, but a lot of my friends do,” said Jack.

“I’ve had my beard trimmed for charity about eight times, probably more.

“Now I’ve done my last one and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me over the years.”

Of the £250 raised for Diabetes UK, £75 was raised at Honiton Working Men’s Club and Jack would like to specially thank Julie and Nat for their help.

Reflecting on his last charity trim, Jack said: “I went around all the pubs and took a pair of scissors with me. I got them out and people gave me a snip.

“Eventually, I am going to take my beard off completely. I am keeping it for the time being, because of the cold weather.”
