Honiton's 'magnificent' young people

YOUNG people, who gave up three days of their time to regenerate a Honiton beauty spot, have received certificates of appreciation from the town council.

YOUNG people, who gave up three days of their time to regenerate a Honiton beauty spot, have received certificates of appreciation from the town council.Sapphire Jones, Jamie Taylor, Hazel Woodley, Nick Guscott, Sasha Passmore (not present) and Tom Locke have been honoured for their unpaid work at the Glen.Councillor Alf Boom, who is leading a massive project to rejuvenate the Glen, recommended the teenagers for the awards. He stood next to the Mayor of Honiton, Councillor Chris Tratt, as the civic awards were presented before a council meeting on Monday night.Building steps, repairing a bridge, cutting back elm trees and clearing a large overgrown area had been among their "magnificent" achievements, he said.Councillor Tratt told the volunteers: "I am thanking you on behalf of the town.
