A young sales assistant from Honiton stole thousands of pounds worth of electrical goods from the John Lewis store where he worked.

James Barrows stole and defrauded the retailer out of more than £20,000 of goods, Exeter Crown Court heard.

The stolen goods included TVs, laptops, cameras, speakers, monitors and other electrical gear.

Barrows, of Stone Close, admitted two theft and four fraud charges between February and October last year.

The court heard he credited gift cards and made false refunds to himself while working as a sales assistant at the John Lewis store in Exeter city centre.

He was bailed and will be sentenced next month.
