A pair of worthy causes have benefitted from donations made by Honiton Senior Voice

Mental health group Open Arms East Devon received a cheque for £100.

The group, which has applied for charity status, provides peer support at Dunning Court in Honiton for adults experiencing mental illness.

It is open every Tuesday and Friday from 10.30am to 4pm.

The second cause to benefit from the Senior Voice donation was ACORNS Befriending, a volunteer-run service which falls under transport charity TRIP’s umbrella.

Its members are volunteers, who have been carefully selected and trained and who like to help others to enjoy life and can help people to make theirs more interesting and enjoyable.

ACORNS received £250.

June Brown, chair of Honiton Senior Voice, said its members were pleased to be able to make the contributions.

Earlier this year, the organisation donated £100 to the Honiton Admiral Nurse campaign.
