It is billed as one of the hottest events of the year in any Honitonian’s calendar - and it is making a return next week.

The hotly anticipated Honiton Show will be back on Thursday (August 3) in the heart of the East Devon countryside.

The mammoth one-day show, one of the biggest agricultural shows in the country, will offer everything from livestock judging competitions to dazzling entertainment in the main ring and dozens of informative stalls.

As with previous shows, thousands are expected to descend upon Honiton Showground to soak up the sights, sounds - and hopefully sun - the day has to offer.

The show is put on by Honiton and District Agricultural Association, which promotes agriculture and related industries, specifically by the staging of its annual show.

Visitors to this year’s show will be treated to a performance from the West of England Hound Show, the second largest in the Country, attracting packs from all over the British Isles, as well as a pulsating, adrenalin-packed showing from Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motocross Team, Honda’s official and the UK’s number one motorcycle display team.

For those who enjoy a more laid back approach, dozens of farming machines from years gone by will be on show, with their owners on hand to tell the stories behind their vintage years and show off the engines.

In the main ring, these veteran machines will rumble into life as they get judged by experts - a popular event for the hundreds of onlookers that gather to witness the display.

Other acts at this year’s show include Joseph’s Amazing Camels - the camels and jockeys are specially trained by Joseph and Rebecca Fossett and wear colourful Arabian style outfits to add pizazz.

As well as racing, the camels are on display all day so the public can learn more about them.

The event is also showcasing the Ridgeside lurcher display, which will see the dogs race at full speed chasing an electric lure.

The public will also be invited to have a go with their own dogs – whatever their breed.
