A Honiton student is exhibiting her painting in a prestigious art auction exhibition alongside many well-known artists.

Octavia Madden donated her work ‘Thelma’s Jug’ to the Thelma Hulbert Gallery for their upcoming art auction.

Her work will be on display alongside internationally recognized artists such as Peter Randall-Page RA, and Alan Cotton FRSA SWAc.

Octavia said: “I am really thrilled that my work has been accepted. Thelma’s Jug was inspired while I was involved in THG’s Masterpieces Group.

“The foliage was picked from my mother’s garden and the jug is my mother’s favourite.

“I was exploring colour and paint textures.”

Octavia’s work will be auctioned alongside 55 other artworks on Friday, June 8 at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery.

Funds raised from the auction will go towards Honiton’s Admiral Nurse campaign and the gallery’s learning progamme.

The works are on display at the gallery from May 26 to June 8.

Bids can be placed online at www.fundraising.bid/artauction2018.

There are no reserve prices on any of the artworks.

Octavia developed her artistic skills as part of THG’s Masterpieces Youth Art Group.

She is currently on an art scholarship at Millfield School.

She was also a finalist in the John King Young Artist competition 2017 and has had work published in the World Horse Welfare Colouring book 2017. She intends to study fine art at university and beyond.

Fiona Page-Turner, the gallery’s marketing and fundraising officer, said: “We have specially selected a range of artworks including paintings, photographs, prints and sculpture to appeal to as many art buyers as possible.

“There are no reserves on any of the works so they will all be sold on the night.

“We are honoured to help the Honiton Admiral Nurse campaign and we are so proud of our learning programme of workshops and art activities for the community of East Devon.

We hope you can join us to help raise as much money as possible for these two exceptional causes and do credit to the artists who have so generously donated these wonderful artworks.”
