THE chief executive of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, which closed The Bungalow in Honiton without public consultation, says talks with local GPs and councillors have been "very useful".
Iain Tulley said of the talks: "They have been very useful in setting out the significant challenges we face in delivering better services for older people with mental health needs.
"We are all agreed about the scale of this challenge. At our next meeting, we will be talking in greater detail about our proposals, what they would mean for people in Honiton and the decisions we need to make over the next couple of years about how and where we focus the money available to us."
Mr Tulley added: "We know we can't leave things as they are.
"We won't be able to provide care for all the people who need it, and we won't be able to provide the right type of care either.
"By this, I mean proper early intervention and care planning for people with dementia, robust crisis and home treatment services when people need them and high quality support for carers.
