HONITON Young Farmers' Club held its first annual show and sale of dairy beef and sheep for many years.Thirty members turned out to the Sedge Auction Centre, showing 71 lots of stock - making it the club's biggest event this year.YFC president Babs Leach said: "It has got to be one of my proudest moments watching the show and sale. The amount of enthusiasm from the members and the supporters was fantastic. Well done to you all."In the dairy section, sponsored by Mole Valle by Forage Services, Chris Reed's Culverhayes Rambo Sarah was named champion milk heifer and Julie Tucker won 'best presented bulling heifer.'Rebecca Bartlett took first place in the female exhibitors' class and for the bulling heifer class. Stuart Perry won first place for the male exhibitors' class.Samantha Surridge took the Culverhayes Cup for the best presented in-milk heifer.Sarah Pidsley won the Champion Beef Bullock Class and Best Presented Beef Bullock, as well as the Best Stockman in the Show.In the champion beef calf class, Kate Hopkins took away the Michael Pidsley Shield and sash and Katie Maynard picked up the W T Baily and Son Cup for Best Presented Beef Calf.Nicola Bartlett took the West Devon Meat Cup for Best Pen of Lambs and the Alan Derryman Shield for the Best Pen of Ewes and Lambs. Her sister Rebecca claimed the best triplet in the show, and brother Jack the best single in the show.Phil Burrough received The Yard Farm Shield for Best Pen of Ewes.The YFC thanked all their sponsors and everybody who helped out at the event.
