Horse put down after road crash
Police hunting for driver of Vauxhall Corsa
POLICE are looking for a driver and his damaged car after a fatal crash near Cotford Garage, Sidbury, this lunchtime. (Monday).
The car, believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa, was involved in an accident with a horse and its driver at around 12.15pm today at Orchardside Close.
The female rider, who is believed to have back and hip injuries, was airlifted to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Wonford, by Devon Air Ambulance.
Her injuries are currently being assessed in hospital, but are not thought to be serious.

However her horse was badly injured and had to be put down at the scene.
The main road through Sidbury is currently closed to traffic, and may be for some hours.

A police spokesman said: “The vehicle was driven by a male driver, who appears not to have stopped and the vehicle would have a damaged windscreen. We are searching for the vehicle and its driver.”
