THE AXMINSTER Young Farmers' club is holding horse rides for charity at Shute - in memory of a young farmer who died suddenly last year.

The event on Sunday, September 21, at will start Wood End Farm in aid of club funds - which they hope to use to buy a generator for the carnival float - and the Laura Persey fund, after the young farmer who died.

The Laura Persey fund will be launched in October to help pay for rural training.

Axminster YF Mark Rowe said: "Laura was well known in the group and this Trust would mean a lot to her and her family."

The ride, which will run from 10am to 12noon, costs £10 and covers an eight to nine mile journey across Shute, Whitford and Kilmington.

People can just turn up on the down, but those under 14 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult. For further information, call Phil Bird on 07774001829.
